TCU political science professor, author to speak to Parker County Democrats

James Riddlesperger

James W. Riddlesperger, Jr., Ph.D., renowned political science professor and author at Texas Christian University, will speak to the Parker County Active Democrats on Oct. 14.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. with a social time, and the program starts at 7 p.m. The group meets at the Twentieth Century Club House, 321 S. Main St., Weatherford. Parking is provided at the rear of the building, an historic white house at the corner of Lee and South Main streets. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Riddlesperger has taught at TCU since 1982. His interest is in American politics, with emphasis on the presidency, Congress and Texas politics.

He is co-author of Lone Star Leaders (2011, TCU), The Austin-Boston Connection (2009, Texas A&M Press), and Texas Politics (13th edition, Cengage, 2015). He has co-edited numerous books, including ones on Sam Rayburn and Jim Wright, presidential leadership and civil rights policy and the balance of power between Congress and the president.

He has been named the winner of the Chancellor’s Award for Creative Teaching and Research as well as Honors Professor of the year at TCU. He is well-known as a frequent consultant to national, state, and local news media concerning politics and elections. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from North Texas State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
