The Weatherford Art Association is back in session for the new year. During the January meeting Sharron McGlasson demonstrated how to make “ugly paintings” beautiful. Her talents from over 40 years have provided her with lots of ideas to see the beauty in everything the WAA does. Her advice was, “Don’t throw away anything, it can be used in your next award winning painting.”
Artists of the month were selected. Patricia Siewert’s pencil drawing of “Home Sweet Home” won first place and will be displayed at the Doss along with some of her other works. Second place went to Cindi Neverdousky for her oil painting “Birdz.” It will be displayed at the First National Bank of Weatherford. Jerry Shidal took home third place honors for his acrylic work titled “Davis Mountains by Horseback.” You can see his work at the Community Credit Union.
Anyone interested in purchasing these artworks or any others from WAA artists can email email@example.com.
The next show WAA will sponsor is the Parker County Student Show. All art students of Parker County schools in grades sixth through 12th are eligible for participation. Categories are by grade and advanced placement levels. Oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, pencil, mixed media, sculpture, pottery and photography are all welcome. The show will be held for the first time at the Weatherford College Academic Center. Drop off for teachers is March 6 and 7. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The show will be on exhibit in the WC Academic Center through March 26. Stop by and see the amazing work young artists are creating.
The Weatherford Art Association meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at 125 S. Waco St. Come and enjoy the demonstrations by artists from around the Metroplex.
