The Weatherford Music Teachers Association Nov. 16 hosted its annual Fall Hymn Festival and Fall Solo Festival for young pianists in the area. Students came from Parker, Palo Pinto, Tarrant and Hood counties to perform.
There were 28 students who earned a Superior Plus in both festivals, which garnered a purple ribbon and a trophy, plus an invitation to perform on one of two honor recitals during the day. Those students were Veronika and Thomas Adams, Graham Artho, Lucy Bengfort, Kaitlin Bloching, Kaitlin Brummer, Seth Bullard, Madi Crum, Josh Dobles, Dallin Doolittle, Rachel Gilchrist, Alex Hall, Eda Hansen, Jasper Harmer, Ailee Haynes, Reed Johnson, Sophia Knowles, Tyler Anne Leatherman, Carlyle Palmer, Elizabeth Phillips, Lucas Silva, Audrey Smith, Brynleigh Stewart, Dominique Tamaoki, Colton Walters, Marcus Worch, Matthew Zarkivach and Tell Zylman.
There were 59 participants in the Solo Festival, and 21 of them earned the top rating of Superior Plus. Students who earned a Superior Plus rating in the Solo Festival were Sebastian Barberena, Connor Bezio, Payton Clark, Piper Crum, Emma Gallaher, Rebecca Gilchrist, Laney Hudson, Katlyn Johnson, Bonnie Jones, Noelle Jones, James Leising, Lizzie Leising, Wilson Lewis, Kaden Martin, Charlie Rogers-Cantrell, Greta Snyder, Hannah Snyder, Estelle Stevens, James Stevens, Mark Williams and Madelyn Woodring.
There were 75 participants in the Hymn Festival, and 13 of them earned the top rating of Superior Plus. Students who earned a Superior Plus rating in the Hymn Festival were Christian Andrews, Gideon Artho, Sophie Bailey, Dakota Belding, Allie Clark, Rogan Daly, Behryn Gentsch, Ella McGee, Jasmin Patterson, Gavyn Prickett, Parker Robertson, Sara Bea Willoughby and Gwyneth Wise.
Teachers who prepared these students for the festival were Paul Andrews, Kristen Chapman, Holly Hughes, Russell Hughes, Emily Laney, Steven Lent, Susan Smith and Elizabeth Wynne.
