The 64th annual Rotary Pancake Supper will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon and sausage.

Tickets are now available for the Weatherford Rotary Club’s 64th annual Pancake Supper event, which helps raise funds to provide scholarships for area high school students.

“We’re excited about the Pancake Supper. We’ve moved it a week later so hopefully the weather is better and we’ve gotten a lot of great sponsors,” Rotary Club President Joe Wilkinson said. “We’re expecting it to bring in more money to provide more scholarships for the area high schools and that’s the big thing, we want to do more for the area high schools because there are so many deserving students and hopefully we’ll have more money to qualify them for a scholarship.”

The Pancake Supper will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Weatherford High School cafeteria.

“It will be all the pancakes, bacon and sausage you want. There will also be a pancake eating contest and that’s between police, fire and other first responders,” Rotary Club President-Elect Peggy Hutton said. “This year we’re adding children to the mix. They’re going to make something out of pancakes and sausage. There will be teams of three and they will have five minutes to make something, and it will be elementary students from schools in our area. They will know ahead of time, so they can be practicing and we just thought that would be fun to add.”

Each year, the Rotary Club provides between $10,000-$12,000 in scholarships to local high schoolers.

“We really believe in the importance of education,” Hutton said. “We strongly believe in giving scholarships and helping those that need it.”

Wilkinson said he enjoys seeing the community come together each year for the Pancake Supper.

“It’s great to see how it continues to grow and how we can help people. We know we have many people that look forward to the Pancake Supper and it will be fun — a lot of food and fellowship,” Wilkinson said. “Personally, I like to see how the club works together on a project and also how much people appreciate what the Rotary does for the community. It’s a great time to come together and enjoy pancakes.”

A raffle will also be taking place during the event and Hutton said they always welcome donations to be included in the raffle. This year’s raffle will feature baskets for women, men and children, ranging from entertainment to spa packages. There will also be a gas grill donated by Texas Butane that can be won in the raffle. To donate to the raffle, contact Rotary Club Raffle Chair Rachael Watson at 817-371-9762 or paralegalservicesofnorthtexas@gmail.com.

Celebrating its 64th year, Hutton said she’s been attending the event since the very beginning.

“Because the Rotary has done it for so many years and I have always lived in Weatherford, I have literally been coming to this my whole life — my parents have always attended,” Hutton said. “It’s where everyone in the community comes together and people realize the importance of it and they’re willing to be there and contribute.”

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door the day of the event. Advanced tickets can be purchased from the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce or any Rotarian.
