To “cowboy up” can mean to “take a good grip,” but not just to your rigging, rope or saddle: more importantly it means a grip on life in your work and in your relationships, taking responsibility for your actions, making adjustments to your attitude, taking a risk and exploring the possibilities, being in fellowship with others.
Philippians 3: 12-13: “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
It comes down to choice. We need to choose. This cowboy chooses to take a grip on Jesus. Why? Because Jesus can hold me in His grip of secure, unfailing and unending love and there’s nothing that is in our Father’s will for me that we cannot accomplish together.
Romans 8:28-39: “… we are more than conquerors through him who loved us …”
To cowboy up in his grip is to believe: trusting in … clinging to …. relying on … Jesus for everything in our present and in the hereafter.
Just some rambling thoughts.
Ain’t God good,
