Longtime Millsap teacher retiring after 35 years

The Millsap Cemetery will recognize its veterans with a flag fluttering in their honor for Memorial Day. A flagpole and flag were donated by the Montes family.

Hello friends,

School is closing its doors on another awesome year, and Mrs. Tammy Stevenson is closing her classroom door after a 35-year teaching career! Congratulations and thank you, Mrs. Stevenson, for the love and devotion you have given so many Millsap students. Enjoy your retirement!

Linda Mize, mail carrier for the Millsap Post Office, is also retiring after 15 years with the postal service. Her retirement celebration will be May 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the Millsap Community Center. Congratulations and best wishes to Linda.

It is humbling to think of how many have given their lives for our freedom. How many of those young soldiers would have been doctors, lawyers, senators and maybe even presidents. Their futures were not realized in sacrifice for this country and its causes. Let us remember them with grateful hearts. The Millsap Cemetery will recognize its veterans with a flag fluttering in their honor. A flagpole and flag were donated by the Montes family. Thank you for your generosity and thank you to the Millsap Cemetery Association for putting it up for Memorial Day. The cemetery is always clean and neat as a result of the dedicated members of the cemetery association.

Here’s a wonderful opportunity to help an area veteran celebrate his 100th birthday. Joe lives at Brookdale Assisted Living in Weatherford. He is a veteran and he was a prisoner of war. His birthday celebration is June 7, and the community is being asked to send him cards. If you are so inclined, mail your card to:
