Parker County residents shared their thoughts about community icon Roger Grizzard, who died in a car accident in Lubbock on May 25. Family members of Grizzard were also involved in the accident, including his son who is still in the hospital.

Ashley Rae I paid to take his class during the summer when I was just 15. I had dreams of graduating early. Roger cheered me on but he still made sure I had a thorough, applicable understanding of government and economics. He really inspired me to dig deeper into business and finance. I’m appreciative of the love and knowledge he shared. Heaven has reclaimed one of it’s angels that we were graciously blessed with!!

Lisa Lester Prayers for the family. I had him when I was in school he was truly a kind fun awesome teacher. Mr. Grizzard you will truly be missed. Prayers for their son that’s in the hospital Angels be with him Lord touch him with yr healing hands.

Samantha Jane Workman So very sad. He was a kind and generous man.

Rochelle Shannon The football stadium should be named after Roger

Holli Boyd Such a great guy, he will be missed. Sending prayers to his friends and family members including those in the hospital

Miranda Frazier So sad, continued prayers for the family and their recovery.

Kimberly N Billy Greene I’m so sorry for your loss!! We were at the scene of the accident and my husband said he looked peaceful when he passed. We are praying for his wife and son and your community.

Lori Simpson Roger Grizzard owned the Pizza Place here in Weatherford and was the cornerstone of this community. He was basically one in a million. He gave so much to our kids, community and schools and never asked for anything in return. He was very active with all of the athletics and extra curricular activities that the kids were involved in. This town will not be the same without him but we will be there to lift up his family and help them anyway that we can. That is what Roger would have wanted. He and his family were and are that loved.
