Wants school named for Roger Grizzard

Dear Editor:

I realize that Mr. Grizzard did not teach at the new high school. In honor of such a wonderful pillar of this community, I propose that the Weatherford HS be named the Roger Grizzard High School. We have the Shirley Hall Middle School, Joe Tison, and every campus is named after someone meaningful. However, the Ninth Grade Center and the High School are not named for anyone.

I doubt that much opposition will come if you post this letter in the paper; someone suggested that the stadium be named after him. Rather than just the stadium, where he did help students, I propose that the high school be renamed because he was a high school teacher for over 20 years and was all about kids in his everyday life.

Please publish this letter, as I knew this honorable man as well as the rest of my family. We all believe that this would pay honor to him in such a deserving way, that naming the stadium wouldn’t do.

I thank you for reading this and for publishing this plea. Please forward it to the school board.
