Athens Masonic Lodge #165 joined with others placing wreaths on the graves of veterans at the Athens Cemetery. Approximately 100 people showed up to pay tribute to those who have made it possible for us to celebrate the holidays. Wreaths Across America organized the event.

The volunteers who turned out at Athens Cemetery for the annual Wreaths Across America stood in the rain and cold, reminded that enduring the elements was just one of the sacrifices made by those who traveled to places all over the globe to secure our freedom.

As we celebrate Veterans Day Thursday, Nov. 11, let’s take time to recognize the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces.

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will host a new event to honor and support veterans. “Veterans Day at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center” will be from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, with free admission for veterans and their families.
