Aledo High School’s varsity  fall tennis team defeated a strong Wichita Falls Rider team, 11-8 Saturday to secure a third-place finish in District 4-5A.  

The win puts Aledo (2-2 in district play) in line to advance  to the bi-district round of playoffs for the 16th time in the past 18 years. 

Against Wichita Falls Rider, Aledo’s boys led the way, winning all three doubles matches and splitting 3-3 in singles. 

Posting wins in doubles for the boys were the pairing of Jax Joiner and John Llewellyn (6-4)(6-4), Matt Coburn and Payton Neeley (6-2) (6-4) as well as Ian Leslie and Wade Williams (6-4)(6-3).  

The Bearcats came away with wins in boys’ singles thanks to Coburn (6-1)(6-2), Neeley (6-3)(6-2) and Llewellyn with a close tiebreaker (6-3) (7-6) (7-4).  

The Lady Cats took home two of three girls’ doubles matches, with wins coming from the pairing of Katie Siddons and Maddie Farmer (6-2)(6-4) as well as Allie Farmer and Georgia Posey (6-4)(7-5).  

Aledo’s girls fared similarly to the Bearcats in singles, splitting 3-3.

Wins in girls’ singles matches for the Lady Cats

Maddie Farmer (6-3)(6-2), Cambell Charrier (6-1)(6-0) and Posey (6-1) (6-1) each earned wins against Wichita Falls Rider.

Aledo is set to play a bi-district match within the next few weeks, although the opponent, time and place are still yet to be determined.
