Strong individual showings at the team’s regional meet propelled Brock High School seniors Peyton Murley and Steely Steiner to the UIL Class 3A State Cross Country Meet last weekend at Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park, where the duo picked up a pair of top-10 finishes.
On the boys’ side, Murley, who finished first at district and third at regionals, clinched sixth in the Boys’ 5000M with a time of 15:49.29out of more than 140 runners.
Murley improved on his 2018 performance at state, when the Eagle finished 29th with a time of 17:02 at this point last year.
Eustace finished as the top Class 3A boys’ team at state, clinching first with 85 points out of 16 qualifying teams.
On the girls’ side, Steiner, who finished first at district and ninth at regionals, took home 10th with a time of 12:02.50 out of more than 140 runners at state.
Holliday finished as the top Class 3A girls’ team in the state with 57 points.
As a team, Brock’s boys previously finished third at district and 19th at regionals.
The Lady Eagles previously finished third at district and 19th at regionals.
