The Aledo Lady Cats clinched the outright District 4-5A championship and reached the Class 5A regional quarterfinals while finishing with a season record of 29-17 in 2019, marks which earned 10 players all-district recognition.

Five Lady Cats came away with superlative honors, while Aledo also earned two first-team and second-team selections each as well as an honorable mention.

Senior Daleigh Ellison led the way, taking home MVP honors in District 4-5A after posting 538 kills, 36 aces, 101 total blocks and 513 digs.

Fellow senior Riley Pickett was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year, finishing with 885 digs, 100 assists and 612 service receptions.

Junior Lilly Taylor, who put up 441 kills, 34 aces, 404 digs and 608 service receptions, earned Co-Offensive Player of the Year recognition.

Sophomore Mattie Gantt earned Co-Setter of the Year honors, racking up 65 aces, 437 digs and 1,388 assists.

Junior Audrey Pearce rounded out Aledo’s superlative award recipients, taking home Blocker of the Year after putting up 211 kills, 163 total blocks and 172 digs.

First-team all-district selections for the Lady Cats included senior Alex Grooms and junior Alyssa Gribble.

Grooms finished with 309 kills, 42 aces, 395 digs and 742 service receptions, while Gribble tallied 111 kills and 99 total blocks.

Aledo’s second-team all-district selections included senior Jace Parker and junior Molly Tucker.

Parker put up 105 digs and 177 service receptions, while Tucker accrued 97 service receptions.

Junior Abby Thompson rounded out Aledo’s all-district honorees, taking home the team’s lone honorable mention.

In addition, Lady Cats’ Head Coach Claire Gay was named District 4-5A’s Coach of the Year.
