The Aledo Lady Cat volleyball team traveled to Leander over the weekend for the district’s Volleypalooza tournament, finishing 4-5 in matches played.

Aledo started strong, sweeping its first day of competition with a 2-0 win (25-15, 25-8) against  Cornerstone Christian, a 2-1 win (25-22, 24-26, 25-21) versus Georgetown and a 2-0 win (25-22, 25-19) against Katy Cinco Ranch.

Friday proved somewhat of a reversal, with the Lady Cats dropping three matches.

The orange and black fell to Austin Westlake, 2-1 (19-25, 25-23, 20-25), was defeated, 2-1 (21-25, 25-17, 23-25) by Vandergrift and was swept, 2-0 (19-25, 13-25) by the Woodlands.

The Lady Cats closed out their time at the tournament with a 1-2 match performance Saturday.

Aledo fell to Round Rock Westwood, 2-1 (25-20, 20-25, 19-25) before pulling even on the day with a 2-0 sweep (25-18, 25-11) of A&M Consolidated.

A 2-1 loss (18-25, 25-11, 23-25) to previous foe Georgetown served as the Lady Cats’ final outing of the tourney.

Aledo hosts Arlington Seguin in a non-district match at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
