Brock’s Torrye Tyler (5) lit up the scoreboard throughout the team’s home tournament, the Brock Showcase, last weekend. Tyler finished with point totals of 16, 20, 22, 23 and 16 points, respectively.

The Brock Lady Eagles did well defending their home turf at last weekend’s Brock Showcase, going 4-1 in the tournament.

Brock opened with a 41-35 win over the Brownwood Lady Lions, making the most of an 18-11 first-quarter run which helped the former weather a shutout in the second frame.

The Lady Eagles edged out the Lady Lions, 23-22 in scoring over the final two quarters to preserve the win.

Brock’s Torrye Tyler paced her team’s scorers versus Brownwood with 16 points, while teammate Madison Moudy, also a junior, followed with 11 points.

Brock appeared to find its groove following the team’s triumph in the Brownwood game, outscoring its next three opponents (all wins) by a combined margin of 146 -69.

The victories, coming against Godley (53-26), Fort Worth Nolan Catholic (42-28) and Bangs (51-15) set the Lady Eagles up with a spot in the championship game against the Fort Worth Trimble Tech Lady Bulldogs.

Tyler made her presence known on the scoreboard in each of those three double-digit victories, finishing with team highs of 20 points versus Godley, 22 points versus Nolan Catholic and 23 points versus Bangs.

However, Brock’s run would eventually end versus Trimble Tech, which went on to defeat the former, 41-32 in the championship game.

Over the course of the tourney, sophomore Marifer Davila averaged a team-high 6.6 rebounds, while senior Ashlynn Tutter contributed an average 3.2 steals (also a team high).

The Lady Eagles were scheduled to play the Cisco Lady Loboes in a non-district game Monday in Glen Rose.

Brock plays the Weatherford Lady Roos in a non-district game at 2:15 today on the road.
