The Weatherford Lady Roos picked up their seventh-straight District 3-6A win Tuesday afternoon at home, sweeping the Hurst L.D. Bell Lady Blue Raiders, 3-0.
Weatherford (26-11, 7-0), which celebrated its senior night Tuesday, took care of business against L.D. Bell, handily winning the first set, 25-7, the second set, 25-14 and the third set, 25-12.
Junior middle blocker Abbie Lane finished with a team-high 13 kills, followed closely by senior outside hitter Jayla Schutlz, who put up seven kills.
In all, seven different players for Weatherford contributed kills versus L.D. Bell.
The Lady Roos’ aggressiveness at the point of attack paid off with nine total aces, with senior outside hitter Tatum Wright leading the way with three aces.
Fellow upperclassmen Hartlie Kennedy, a senior defensive specialist, and Logan Loran, a junior setter, each added two aces.
Senior middle blocker Chloe Brownlee notched a pair of blocks for Weatherford.
Teammate and sophomore defensive specialist Keegan O’Connor racked up a team-leading 18 digs, while Loran paced the unit in assists with 30.
The Lady Roos have not lost a match since Sept. 10, when the team fell in a non-district match to Southlake Carroll, 3-0.
Weatherford finished with a district mark of 12-1 in 2018 en route to a Class 6A regional semifinalist finish.
The Lady Roos have five District 3-6A matches remaining, with the bi-district round of playoffs set for Nov. 4-5.
Weatherford enjoys a bye Friday, before returning to district action versus the Richland Lady Rebels at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the road.
