The Aledo Lady Cats went three rounds deep in Class 5A playoffs in 2019, toughing out 2-1 series wins versus Lubbock Cooper (bi-district) and Eastlake (area) before falling to state-ranked El Paso Chapin (No. 5 at the time) in the regional quarterfinals.
Aledo previously finished third in District 4-5A.
In all, nine Lady Cats were recognized with all-district honors, including two superlative awards, two first-team selections, three second-team selections and two honorable mentions.
Freshman shortstop Macy Graf was named District 4-5A’s Offensive Player of the Year, batting .517 in district while piling up 30 stolen bases.
Fellow freshman Marissa Powell took home Newcomer of the Year, batting .385 in district while primarily playing outfield.
First-team selections for Aledo included freshman pitcher Kayleigh Smith and sophomore catcher Morgan Brown.
Smith owned an ERA of .333.
Junior pitcher Caroline Suchocki, senior center fielder Heidi Fischer and senior first baseman Alana Smith all took home second-team all-district honors.
Suchocki finished with an ERA of 1.182.
Honorable mentions for the Lady Cats included sophomore Hollyn Gaffner and freshman Madysen Boutwell.
Fischer, [Alana] Smith, Graf, Powell, Brown, Gaffner, senior Jessica Kubosh, junior Emily Wallace, sophomore Callie Todd and sophomore Audrey Pearce all earned academic all-district.
Aledo finished the 2019 season with a record of 16-16-1.
