Springtown High School’s wrestling teams came away with a pair of top-10 finishes at the recent District 4-5A Meet in Saginaw, with the Porcupines securing seventh (111.5 points) while the Lady Porcupines finished 10th (17 points).

Lubbock Monterey took top honors on the boys’ side with 214 points, while Fort Worth Chisholm Trail proved the team to beat on the girls’ side, taking first with 188 points.

Springtown’s individual results from district are:

• Seth Appell, sixth in the boys’ 126-pound weight class, falling to Fort Worth Chisholm Trail’s Toby Ford in the fifth-place match (For.)

• Dakota Strahan, second in the boys’ 132-pound weight class, falling to Saginaw’s Brandon Sanchez in the first-place match (Dec 12-7)

• Nathan Strahan, eighth in the boys’ 138-pound weight class

• Gage Crites, fifth in the boys’ 145-pound weight class, falling to Azle’s Cameron Powell in the fourth-place match (NC)

• Daniel Rivera, first in the boys’ 152-pound weight class, defeating Lubbock’s Jadon Herring in the first-place match (Dec 6-0)

• Daren Leatherwood, eighth in the boys’ 160-pound weight class

• Matthew Graham, sixth in the boys’ 182-pound weight class, falling to Azle’s Joshua McNutt in the fifth-place match (For.)

• Brayden Holbrooks, third in the boys’ 195-pound weight class, defeating Lubbock Estacado’s Christian Cardenas in the third-place match (Fall 4:40)

• Cody Brackeen, second in the boys’ 285-pound weight class, falling to Fort Worth Boswell’s William Bennett in the first-place match (Fall 2:44)

• Lexi Hardwick, fourth in the girls’ 148-pound weight class, falling to Lubbock Estacado’s Savannah Reyna in the third-place match (Fall 1:14)

• Khiley Roberts, seventh in the girls’ 148-pound weight class (Bye)

• Molly Reed, sixth in the girls’ 215-pound weight class, falling to Saginaw’s Andrea Ortiz in the fifth-place match (For.)
