Weatherford’s Morgan Skold (8) was one of six Lady Roos who earned District 3-6A honors.

Six of Weatherford’s varsity softball players were recently recognized with District 3-6A honors.

Weatherford picked up one first-team selection, two second-team selections and three honorable mentions.

Senior first baseman Lindsey Franklin earned the Lady Roos’ lone first-team selection, enjoying a .314 batting average and .385 on-base percentage.

Franklin put up 18 hits, including 13 singles, three doubles, one triple and one home run.

The senior also collected 17 RBIs, scored 13 runs and owned a .938 fielding percentage.

Senior pitcher and third baseman Karly Horton as well as second baseman  Morgan Skold each earned second-team all-district honors.

Horton hit .304 in district, pitched 19 innings and had 22 strikeouts.

The senior third baseman also enjoyed a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage during district play.

Skold, in addition to her work at second base, also played catcher for roughly half the Lady Roos’ season.

Skold enjoyed a .366 batting average in district play, which included 11 singles, three doubles and one triple while putting up six RBIs and scoring 10 runs.

Junior left fielder and shortstop Hayden Holcomb, junior pitcher Marlee Whitling and freshman center fielder Grace Thompson were each named District 3-6A honorable mentions.
