An 11-man roster headlined by nine freshmen helped guide Weatherford Christian School to a 7-6 win over Lake Jackson Brazosport in the TAPPS Division V state title game in 2019.

Now, the team’s contributions from the top to bottom of its roster have been recognized in the form of nine all-district awards.

Freshmen Jaxon Foland, Ethan Smith, Andrew Couser and Clay Dukes each earned first-team honors in TAPPS Division V, District 1.

Foland (batting average of .401) and Smith (.482 batting average and 4-0 record as a pitcher with 61 strikeouts in 47 innings with a 2.49 ERA) also took home first-team all-state, as well as being named to the all-state tournament team.

Couser (hit .400 on the season and was 3-0 on the season pitching with 67 strikeouts in 53 innings and an ERA of 2.36) was named to second-team all-state while joining Foland and Smith on the all-state tournament team.

Sophomore Bryson Smith, freshman Ethan Suss and freshman Logan Perkin were all named second-team all-district selections.

Freshmen Blake Heid and Jacob Besancon were named honorable mentions.
