The Weatherford High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has announced its 2019 inductees.
The purpose of the organization is to recognize athletes, coaches and teams that have made outstanding contributions to the Weatherford High School athletic program.
The first inductee is Summer Beesley Tarver.
Tarver was a Lady Roo athlete, participating in tennis, softball and volleyball.
She was an all-state performer in tennis and softball.
Tarver graduated in 2001.
The second inductee is Nick Gray.
Gray, a 1998 graduate of WHS, was a two-sport letterman in track and field and football for the Kangaroos.
He was a regional qualifier in shot put for three-straight years and finished third at state in 1998.
Gray was also an all-district linebacker in 1997.
Rachel Welch McCune is the third inductee for 2019.
McCune was an all-state catcher/first baseman for the Lady Roos and an academic all-star multiple times.
McCune graduated in 1996.
The team we honored this year is the 1999 regional football champions.
This team, led by head coach Larry McBroom, made it to the state quarterfinals game and lost by three points.
More details about the individuals and the team will be given closer to the event.
The Weatherford High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction will be held along with homecoming, Sept. 19-21.
The hall of fame ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 21 in the Jerry Durant Auditorium on the WHS campus.
