It is time again to nominate those special people who give their time, talents and hearts helping our community. Nominees for the volunteer and humanitarian of the year are now being accepted by the United Way of Parker County. UWPC is planning their annual award and appreciation reception to thank everyone that donated to the 2005 annual fund drive campaign and to recognize individuals that have excelled in “What Matters” and “Making a Difference” in our community. Local non-profit agencies are encouraged to nominate special people who through their volunteerism go above and beyond.
“This is a time to recognize the people that unselfishly give their time to make difference in our community. There are so many wonderful people who volunteer and have really made a difference in people’s lives,” said Kay Greer, executive director for UWPC. “Although they don’t expect it, they are rarely recognized for their efforts. We want these special people to know how much they are appreciated.”
To qualify for these awards the individual should meet the following guidelines:
Humanitarian of the Year: This person through their exceptional philanthropic work is “Making a Difference” in lives and our community.
Volunteer of the Year: This person, through their unselfish volunteer hours has excelled in “What Matters” in our community. Nominations are welcome from any charitable or non-profit organization that provides services to Parker County.
The annual award and appreciation reception is scheduled April 18 at Chandor Gardens. Deadline for all nominations must be received by April 4. Nominations may be mailed to United Way of Parker County, P.O. Box 1476, Weatherford, TX 76086 or e-mailed to uwaypc@sbcglobal.net. Nominations should state nominee’s name, the award for which they are being nominated and why they deserve this award.
